Design Objective
The objective of this project was to develop a comprehensive visual identity system for an existing North Carolina festival. This involved conducting in-depth research on the festival's history, audience demographics, and cultural context to inform strategic design decisions. The project aimed to create a cohesive suite of visual assets—including a logotype, illustrative map, icon set, and style guide—that effectively communicate the festival's essence and appeal to its target audience, ensuring a memorable and engaging brand experience.

Design Brief
For this project, I created a new visual identity for the Cherokee Powwow, a cultural festival held in Cherokee, North Carolina. The rebranding centers on a logomark featuring an Indigenous woman surrounded by symbolic animal forms inspired by traditional Cherokee folklore. The visual style uses light, natural colors applied with a watercolor brush to evoke a soft, organic tone that aligns with the festival’s deep cultural roots. The typographic treatment uses the Quagi typeface to complement the hand-rendered aesthetic. Supporting assets include an illustrative map, a custom icon set, and a detailed style guide to ensure visual consistency across all branded materials. The overall branding was designed to be respectful, inviting, and rooted in nature and tradition.
